Horácké muzeum - From the history of skiing in Nové Město na Moravě

The Horácke Museum, founded in 1892 and located in Nové Město na Moravě, features well-organized history of ski production and of skiing since its early beginning to today’s World Cup Championship. The cabinetmaker’s workshop from The First Republic (1918-1938) explains the contemporary technology and historic documents introduce the history of skiing in Nové Město na Moravě and its surroundings. Originally founded as a skating club in 1895, it was, in 1910, renamed as Sport Club and focused on skiing. The same year the first ski race took place in Nové Město na Moravě and shortly after the first public ski courses were held. Besides the ski exhibition you can also learn more about town’s history, glassmaking, ironmongery and folk architecture in the northern part of the Moravian Horácko.
